Prof. Mihoko Maruyama (Osaka University) received the Best Poster Award at the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Urological Association , for a poster presentation that used thin sections prepared by Tajiri Thin Section Studio. Prof. Mihoko Maruyama (Osaka University) also received the Special Arts Award at the 2023 NIKON JOICO AWARD for a paper image created using kidney stone thin sections prepared by our studio.

At HANAZONO EXPO 2023 (Hanazono Rugby Stadium, Higashi-Osaka), we held a children’s workshop titled “Let’s Look at Ancient Fusulina Fossils Inside a Rock.” About 100 children polished limestone with sandpaper and observed Fusulina fossils.

A paper led by Associate Professor Mihoko Maruyama (Osaka University), to which our studio contributed thin-section preparation, was published in PLOS ONE : “Quantitative analysis of calcium oxalate monohydrate and dihydrate for elucidating the formation mechanism of calcium oxalate kidney stones.

We gave a lecture at Osaka University’s “Hirameki☆Tokimeki Science” program, featuring kidney stone and animal tissue thin sections prepared by our Lab.

We exhibited at a cluster exchange event in the Kobe Biomedical Innovation Cluster, connecting the medical industry and Higashi-Osaka manufacturing.

In the web-hosted Japanese Society on Urolithiasis Research symposium (2020), METEOR Project members presented interdisciplinary research on urolithiasis, with multiple mentions of studies using thin sections.
